  • Van der Valk receives order for third Continental Three

Van der Valk receives order for third Continental Three

Van der Valk in the Netherlands has been commissioned to build a new Continental Three semi-custom motoryacht. This is the third order for this successful new line which, features a distinctive design by Guido de Groot. Like all Continental Three builds, this 26-metre superyacht will combine an overall modern appearance with subtle classic touches and include various unique features chosen by her owners. It is due for completion in 2016.

One of the specific characteristics of this latest new Continental Three will be a custom mast ensuring the vertical clearance is lower than six metres in order to suit the preferred sailing regions of the client. In addition, the yacht has an extended hydraulic tender launching platform which will double as a beach lounge and a swim platform. Housing the tender in the stern area will enable the flybridge to be kept free for other functions. The interior of this impressive new Continental Three will be mainly realised in teak and other woods to create a classic ambiance, with lots of rounded shapes adding to the sense of elegance.

    Private relaxation
The spacious flybridge offers an outdoor steering position and two L-shaped sofas for dining. Distinctive relaxation areas will ensure optimal privacy. Two large sunbeds will be placed, one in front of the steering position and the other on the roof of the master stateroom, accessible via the foredeck. There will also be two lounge seats near the anchors. The wet bar behind the helm seat and a barbecue at the aft part of the flybridge will make the whole boat ideal for al fresco entertaining.

The yacht’s main deck includes a large eight-person table for outdoor dining on the aft deck which also gives access to the flybridge. Beautifully crafted foldable stainless steel doors will open up to the spacious saloon, which will offer stunning views all around.

    Spectacular views
Another standout feature of the Continental Three is its raised pilothouse, which is centrally located on the main deck. The master suite is situated forward and offers spectacular panoramic views from its high location. The clear separation from the guests areas also enhances privacy levels for the owners. In addition to a comfortable double king bed, it includes an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, a seating and office area as well as plenty of storage space.

The lower deck includes three guest cabins, all of which are ensuite: two double VIP cabins aft and one central guest cabin with two Pullman’s which accommodates four people. This deck also features a utility storage room with cooler/freezer department, and a laundry area in the corridor. The crew area, located further forward, has two crew cabins as well as a crew mess, shower and head.

Technical specifications of the new Continental Three include two MTU engines with a maximum of 1502 hp each, a 45 hp hydraulic bowthruster and a 35 hp hydraulic sternthruster. The estimated maximum speed is 25 knots, with a cruising speed of 20 knots. In addition, the yacht has a Naiad 302 fin stabilisation system and two 26kW Northern Lights generators on board.

Van der Valk – Continental Yachts has been constructing both steel and aluminium motor yachts since 1968. The family-owned shipyard is located in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, with founder Wim van der Valk still a driving force behind the company. The yard offers its semi-custom Continental series of motoryachts, the layout, interior and style of which can be customised according to clients’ special needs and wishes.

Van der Valk launches Continental Two Grey Falcon 32 knots of power and a Guido de Groot interior

Van der Valk in the Netherlands has delivered the 23-metre aluminium motoryacht Grey Falcon. With an exterior profile designed in-house and an interior from the boards of Guido de Groot, the 19th member of the Continental Two family is one of the fastest built to date by this leading Dutch yard.

Grey Falcon’s stylish exterior style is traditionally Mediterranean, with lots of space on the decks. She has no radar mast bracket – instead she features only a boom, allowing full freedom of movement on the flybridge. The large main deck aft features a large seating area and several seats with beautiful views all around, as well as a substantial dining area. There is a steering position outside on the flybridge, with a spacious daybed adjacent and a mini wet bar to port. All of these al fresco spaces make Grey Falcon a delightful place to relax during the day and on long summer evenings.

Thanks to her triple third-generation Volvo Penta IPS 1050 engines, Grey Falcon is one of the fastest vessels ever built by Van der Valk, and will clock a maximum speed of 32 knots.
She also contains a wealth of other smoothly integrated technological elements, including twin 26 kW Northern Lights generators. There are two electrically adjustable seats at the helm, and the suede-lined dashboard comprises comprehensive navigational equipment by SIMRAD.

    A fine blend
Grey Falcon’s interior is a fine combination of the modern and classic, with a smooth flowing transition between the various components. It is characterised by a pale colour palette based on elegant grey washed oak, counterbalanced by darker elements of granite, suede and Alcantara, and dark wengé floors. The interior comprises many geometric shapes, generating a sleek contemporary appearance without subtracting from its warmth.

The lounge area provides a cosy setup of multiple settees, as well as a seat by the renowned Italian brand Promemoria. Bowers & Wilkins speakers are incorporated into side tables next to the settee, providing superb sound. The dinette to starboard centres on a table in high-gloss lacquered Palisander hardwood. This is continued in the dashboard to port, which extends into the adjacent, well-equipped galley with Corian countertops. The dining table can easily accommodate large groups.

  • Lürssen presents Coral Ocean at the Monaco Yacht Show 2016. A 22 year old Lady still looks magnificent!

Lürssen presents Coral Ocean at the Monaco Yacht Show 2016. A 22 year old Lady still looks magnificent!

Lürssen is proud to present a “young” lady at the forthcoming Monaco Yacht Show: Coral Ocean formerly known as Coral Island. Coral Ocean is one of the first original masterpieces of the stylist and interior designer, the late Jon Bannenberg, both in terms of her clean exterior line and her amazing Polynesian interior.

Coral Ocean was originally launched in 1994 and has been beautifully maintained throughout her life and has spent several winters up at Lürssen – lastly this last winter where certain areas have been changed and up-dated to conform to the rules as she will be for the first time available on the charter market.

So far, she has been used solely privately and has never been featured in a magazine. Guests who will have the pleasure to cruise on her in the Mediterranean this summer will be amazed by her beach house style interior.
In 1994, Coral Ocean was one of the first yachts whose interior featured a gym and a spa area, what was a sensation at that time, is considered as standard today!

Lürssen is happy to present a yacht which is in such a good condition – a proof that a quality yacht can keep her value, even after so many years.

Yachts Middle East - Lurssen - Coral Ocean a 22 year old yacht

Refit has become a core business for Lürssen. During the last winter 8 yachts between 40 and 110 meters have used the Lürssen facilities for modifications and maintenance works. Amongst them are some of the world’s most beautiful yachts such as Phoenix², Global, Radiant and Coral Ocean.

Regardless of whether a yacht is a Lürssen or a yacht built by another yard, a time will come when it will need a refit, some repair, or even a conversion. This is work that Lürssen undertakes with the German precision for which they are world-renowned. And although the work required may differ from ship to ship, their aim is always the same. Once they have been involved, your yacht’s life expectancy and performance should once again be comparable to that of a newbuild.

Five shipyards provide ample space to build and refit several yachts at a time in covered sheds and docks. And with 1800 people working in the group, Lürssen not only has the space but also the manpower of engineers, naval architects and craftsmen to realize any project – may it be a new build, a refit or a conversion.

At this year’s Monaco Yacht Show Lürssen will have, in addition to their regular stand outside on the T-Dock, a dedicated Yacht Service stand located in the air-conditioned tent “Antoine 1er A”, where Lürssen staff will be on hand to talk about what services are provided in the world of Repair and Refit.

  • ‘WE REINVENTED THE IDEA OF BESPOKE’ CRN’S LATEST ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

‘WE REINVENTED THE IDEA OF BESPOKE’ CRN’S LATEST ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

July 1st 2016 – Bespoke products, reflecting the preferences and the personality of their owner, offered with an innovative approach. These are the messages conveyed by the new advertising campaign by CRN, Ferretti Group’s Italian brand and shipyard specialising in the construction of 45 to 100 metre, steel and aluminium mega yachts.

The campaign centres on the claim “We reinvented the idea of Bespoke”, expressing the brand’s focus on craftsmanship and style and representing the true added value of products designed & made in Italy. The claim highlights the essence of the shipyard’s role: taking the wishes of its well-informed and demanding customers, and giving them a tangible form with no limits.

Like a genuine atelier, where customers come to get a suit made to measure, CRN has re-invented a new way of building tailor-made yachts with the same approach as a master tailor. Each customer has their own specific measurements and needs, and no “suit” should ever be the same as another, even if they are made by the same hand. The superyachts built by CRN reflect the vision of their owners, matching their personal taste and style while fulfilling specific needs and desires.

The yachts are the true protagonists in the new campaign designed by Milan’s Savile Row agency with creative director Lorenzo Cascino, seen to be fully-customised icons for people who expect to stand out from the crowd with a fully-customized pleasure vessel, a unique example designed by CRN’s Bespoke Atelier. Each of the shipyard’s yacht is a unique work of art, expressing the vision described by the owner, before being a recognisable member of the CRN fleet.

All the yachts in the fleet are a combination of a flexible approach and a sense of passion. The 55 metre M/Y Atlante, the latest to be built by CRN, is the perfect example of this. It’s strong style and personality embodies the Bespoke model of the brand to perfection.

CRN’s ‘We Reinvented the Idea of Bespoke’ campaign will feature in selected off line media and in the brand’s social media channels starting in July 2016.

  • Commercial success at Heesen Yachts: 50m FDHF hybrid Project Nova is sold!

Commercial success at Heesen Yachts: 50m FDHF hybrid Project Nova is sold!

Heesen Yachts is proud to announce the sale of Project Nova (Y/N 17850). The client, a yacht connoisseur, was introduced to the shipyard by Thom Conboy of Heesen Yachts USA.

Project Nova is a unique example of Heesen’s ingenious approach to yachting: a high-performance, supremely comfortable Fast Displacement yacht with reduced environmental impact, wrapped in an elegant design package with exterior lines by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and interior styling by Sinot Yacht Design.

Her eye-catching superstructure, vertical bow and spacious fixed aft platform, put Project Nova a cut above the rest. While breaking with Heesen yachts of the past, her exterior lines still retain the sense of seaworthiness and performance that has become the trademark of the Dutch superyacht builder.

Thanks to her hybrid propulsion, Project Nova offers the ultimate form of luxury: silent cruising. In this case, ‘hybrid’ means that the yacht can draw on two sources of power for propulsion: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical. Either or both sources can be used at the same time to provide more flexible power management and better efficiency along with less noise and vibration. Up to speeds of 9 knots in electrical hybrid mode, the yacht will be as silent as when at anchor!

Fresh from an exceptional regatta season, we’re thrilled to announce Unfurled has won both the World Superyacht Award in the Sailing Yacht 45metre and above category, as well as the 2016 Sailing Yacht of the Year award.

Unfurled’s owners are very proud to have received the awards and extend their gratitude to all those who were involved in the design and build of the 46 metre sloop, which won the 2016 St Barths Bucket.

“We have more than surpassed our goals. In getting there, we can look back at these past three years, from the first drawing to launch and see how much we have enjoyed the process. The collaboration, the trading and testing of ideas, the satisfaction and challenges have resulted in the new Unfurled. We are proud and profoundly grateful to all who were involved.”
Our congratulations to everyone involved in this remarkable project.

Interior Designer, Oliver Stirling praise the Owners for their passion and experience of sailing which resulted in a remarkable yacht.
“Unfurled is a remarkable yacht for remarkable owners. The success of her interior is due to their passion and experience of sailing, matched by their uncompromisingly high standards and knowledge of Design and the design process.

The challenge of building their vision of a cool, calm, contemporary interior with rigorous integrity of detailing and materials was achieved through the seamless teamwork and total commitment of the yard and interior contractor.”

  • NAUTICA ITALIANA PRESENTS THE NEW HISTORY OF THE SEA IN ITALY

NAUTICA ITALIANA PRESENTS THE NEW HISTORY OF THE SEA IN ITALY

NAUTICA ITALIANA presented the second part of its NAUTICA 365 strategic plan. Affiliated with Fondazione Altagamma, the Association groups together high-end companies from the entire sector – Industry, Services and Territories – and was created to promote Italian nautical products and services throughout the world, with the aim of restoring them to the reputation they deserve and thus boosting growth and exports. Last October, it presented its NAUTICA 365 strategic plan, based on three key pillars aimed at supporting growth:
    1) Nautica Italiana’s Manifesto
    2) The Charter of Values, immediately translated into an Ethical Contract
    3) A new national and international promotion plan

In recent months, the Association has engaged an intensive action on all three fronts.
Particular focus was devoted to the new event strategy, formulated first and foremost on the basis of a thorough analysis of the overall scenario, i.e., the priorities of international growth of companies and, at the same time, the industry’s need for support in promotion on the domestic market as well. In addition, the Association was able to rely on the competences and expertise offered by its chosen professional partner: Fieramilano, Italy’s largest exhibition centre in terms of facility area and infrastructures.
NAUTICA ITALIANA and Fieramilano, under an agreement soon to be formalised, are working together to write the new history of the sea in Italy, as outlined in a new international trade fair programme starting in 2017, with invitations to participate to be extended to all of Italy’s nautical associations, according to the following schedule:
    • AN OUTDOOR INTERNATIONAL NAUTICAL SHOW DEDICATED TO MEDIUM AND LARGE-SIZE BOATS, IN SPRING
    • A LIFESTYLE & GLAMOUR EVENT, IN SUMMER
    • AN INDOOR EXPOSITION IN MILAN DEDICATED TO SMALL BOATS AND WATER SPORTS, IN AUTUMN

Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman of NAUTICA ITALIANA, stated: “Our sea – and all of the knowledge, culture and industry that derives from it – does not just belong to the coasts; rather, it is an asset that the entire country should protect and develop. Accordingly, if the greater opportunity for enhancement, meetings and sales of that category of medium and small-size boats that represent the portion of the nautical industry with the strongest growth potential passes through Milan, we want to be there, as effectively as possible, along with Fieramilano. At the same time, for our buyers, who on the day after the purchase become potential tourists, we also want to be able to offer an opportunity to get together in an Italian seaside setting, and this is why we would like to continue the tradition of a big event in Genoa.”

“I strongly believe that Italy can and must have excellent trade fairs in all fields in which it boasts manufacturing excellence, with the resulting benefits not only for the organiser but also, and above all, for companies. Groups such as Fieramilano and cities such as Genoa must be ready to do their part,” writes Corrado Peraboni, Chief Executive Officer of Fieramilano, in the letter sent to the Chairman of Nautica Italiana on the occasion of this meeting. “Consequently, we have been very thankful and proud to receive Nautica Italiana’s request to take on an active role in organising a national trade fair programme for this industry.
We are certainly not starting from nothing: Italian fairs and events, as well as examples from nearby countries, are proof of not only the sustainability of distinct events on land and at sea, but also the need for them. These different events are equally representative, international and excellent; far from being a random jumble they are an organised sequence of fair events that grow together. This is why we immediately agreed with the idea of a national programming, open to contributions from all industry operators.
In this phase of examination and preparation, we provided Nautica Italiana with our concrete perspective and the organisational conditions that we believe to be necessary for a national programming to be established with the winning characteristics that we all expect. We are organisers and not nautical experts: we offer our expertise with trade fairs and expect that industry operators will provide their specific expertise of their sector.
As we offer our wishes for a positive press conference, we therefore confirm that Fieramilano, along with the Italian nautical industry, which will create the conditions indicated above, and in collaboration with Genoa, is ready to answer the call and provide its trade fair expertise in implementing the programme.”

In parallel, the Association will accompany the schedule of large events with a programme of additional initiatives, which is open to further development and is designed to bring the nautical sector to the fore for all of the 365 days of the year. These initiatives will include:

    • SEATEC-YARE, Viareggio and Carrara
    • DESIGN & INDUSTRY, Salone del Mobile Milano (Milan Furniture Fair)
    • SUPERYACHT DESIGN AWARDS, Florence
    • MONTENAPOLEONE YACHT CLUB, Milan

    Further information on NAUTICA ITALIANA
NAUTICA ITALIANA, the association affiliated with Fondazione Altagamma, was founded in September 2015 by 25 leading Italian nautical manufacturers with the aim to bring together top firms from the entire sector – Industry, Services and Territories -, draw up a strategy for the development and growth of the nautical industry, both in Italy and internationally, and restore the international stature that it deserves.
Open to cooperation with other important industry players, such as Territories and regional Districts, it is selective in its efforts, with a focus on its Charter of Values and shared strategic project.
Nautica Italiana’s positioning and particular focus on international markets are traits it shares with Fondazione Altagamma, which since 1992 has been a common forum for top Italian cultural and creative firms recognised as true ambassadors of Italian style to the world. In fact, the affiliation with Fondazione Altagamma stems from the awareness of the possibility of creating strong synergies with other sectors of excellence and further enhancing the role of the entire nautical industry.
In order to achieve these goals, the association drew up “NAUTICA 365” — a 360° strategic project for 365 days of the year based on three main pillars: the Nautica Italiana Manifesto, with nine concrete legislative proposals to support industry growth; the “Ethical Contract” to ensure professionalism and transparency, and a national and international promotional plan with a new nautical events strategy.
The Board consists of seven members: Lamberto Tacoli (Chairman); Luigi Alberto Amico, Cataldo Aprea, Fabio Boschi, and Giovanna Vitelli (Vice Chairpersons); Corrado Salvemini (Director); and Lorenzo Pollicardo (General Secretary).
