Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design Presents Project MM51

Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design Presents Project MM51

September 6, 2016 Yachts

Project MM51 is the latest innovative design to be revealed by the Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design studio. This sleek design has been extensively developed and is ready to sign with a shipyard – available as a turn-key project for an owner who wishes to move forward quickly – saving time on what has already been a considerable design development and pre-engineering phase.

With an order placed before the end of 2016, this design could be delivered within 24 months – in time for Christmas 2018.

At 51 metres, this powerful sailing sloop has been designed for aluminium construction with an emphasis on comfortable and safe performance cruising.

Her lifting keel will offer a draft from 4.75m to 7.2m, and above the water, her sloop rig stands 68.5m tall with the sail configuration featuring a square-top mainsail.

The sleek glass canopy creates a light and airy feel in the main saloon, whilst controlling heat absorption with reflective interlayers in the large glass panels, and heat reflective pigments in the dark colour paint.

The glass extends over the cockpit providing a smooth flow from the exterior space to the interior. The saloon and cockpit are on the same level, divided only by glass sliding doors, and the cockpit can be further protected from the elements with retractable glass side panels.

There is space for a large tender under the flush teak foredeck, with the tender well doubling up as a refreshing plunge pool. Moving aft, the wide deck has a step down to bring you closer to the water while remaining pleasantly protected, and the central aft-facing seating is the perfect place for a sundowner.

Other features include; a spoke-free steering wheel system which continues this clean design and provides better access to the console, a fully automated sail handling system – making the hoisting and dropping of sails safe and quick, without forgetting the large swim platform and side boarding platforms.

The accommodation is for ten guests between a generous master stateroom and four comfortable guest suites, benefitting from plenty of natural light provided by large windows in the hull.
